Reflection Task 3

As a jury member of the committe choosing the person of the year, I want to choose Bill Gates. I think he is the man of the year. I want to introduce you to Bill Gates. Bill Gates, who was born in 28th October 1955, is an American businessman. He is married and he has three children.

Let's talk about his career. Gates is the former chief executive and current chairman of Microsoft, the world's largest personal computer software company, which he co-founded with Paul Allen. He is consistently ranked in the Forbes list of the world's wealthiest people and was the wealthiest overall from 1995 to 2009. According to the Bloomberg Billionaries List, Gates was the world's richest person in 2013. Moreover, during his career at Microsoft, Gates held the positions of CEO and chief software architect, and remains the largest individual shareholder, with 6.4 percent of the common stock. He has also authored several books. Additionally, Gates is one of the best-known entrepreneurs of the personal computer revolution. 

I want to talk about his personal qualities. One of them is that he is far-seeing. He has understood importance of computer since his childhood. He believed that people all would have their own computer soon. Therefore, he drew his aim to this. Another one is that he worked in a planned way. Gates is an intelligent person but he has thought his intelligence is not enough to be successful. As well as intelligence, he has believed he should works schemingly. Another one is he always appreciates his workers. Bill Gates and Microsoft try to not to lose the workers because they are so clever people. What's more, Bill Gates answers e-mails of the worldwide workers and communicates with them in order to rise their motivation. The final one is he never get above himself against other people. In an interview in May 2006, Gates commented that he wished that he were not the richest man in the world because he disliked the attention it brought. As you see, he is a modest person. Unlike his rivals, he leads a simple life. He does not care about money much. In the light of these information, he deserves to be the man of the year. 

Video Task

        This video is about some advice which Kid President offers up on how to be a person- an awesome person. He thinks that being a person is hard sometimes.

 *Self-evaluation:

       I chose this video because it makes me laugh. I'm really impressed by the kid. Although he is a child, he can speak in a well-advised way. I really enjoy while listening him. 

       In this task, I had difficulty in choosing this video. However, the rest part was so enjoyable. Preparing questions make me feel a teacher. Briefly, this video task is both challenging and different experience for me.

Reflection Task 2/b

       "Before Midnight" is a 2013 American romantic drama film and the sequel to "Before Sunrise(1995)" and "Before Sunset(2004)". Like its prodecessor, the film was directed by Richard Linklater and stars Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy. The film is based on common lifes of the ordinary people. The plot of this film is that nine years after the conclusion of "Before Sunset", Jesse(Hawke) and Celine(Delpy) are a couple. They have twin girls. Jesse has olsa the son,Hank,who lives in Chicago  with Jesse's ex-wife. The couple with three children spend the summer on the Greek Peloponnese peninsula. Hank goes to Chicago back after one week of the holiday. The couple start to discuss their worries about Hank immediately after he goes. They discuss with their friends ideas about love and life. 

            

         Actually, I want to share you all of the story, yet you should watch these films. "Before Midnight" is my favorite film of the triology.

       In this film, there are a lot of impressive dialogues about life and love. The film reflects our real life. There is no difference between us and the characters of the film. We all experience same situations happening in the film. I love this film due to this reason. 

     

    The video sharing for you here is the heart of all three films. It is monologue of Natalia(Xenia Kalogeropoulou). Natalia describes the feeling of loss impeccably. When I listened the monologue, I was so impressed. 

   

        I strongly recommend you to watch these films. Briefly, the films are like real life.

           

       

Reflection Task 2/a

        You may know loggerhead turtles. The loggerhead turtles are exposed to extinction. I mean they are becoming extinct. We can take precautions which will prevent this extinction. There are three possible actions that can be taken to protect loggerhead turtles and save them from extinction. One way to protect these animals and save them from extinction is to restrict tourists at the turtles' nesting time. As tourists do not know how they should treat these turtles, they harm their nesting grounds and injure the turtles. What the turtles need is peace and quiet while laying eggs. However, since the tourists have little understanding of them, they disturb these ancient creatures. As a result, tourists should be restricted in order that the turtles can be peaceful. Another action is to allocate more funds. If more funds are found, turtle hospitals can be built for the endangered animals. Volunteer doctors can treat the injured turtles in these hospitals. As well as turtle hospitals, more wardens may be hired. The last and perhaps the best way to deal with the problem of the loggerhead turtles is to raise public awareness. In order to raise public awareness, a lot of things can be done. For example, campaigns should be launched on TV. Additionally, tourists should be briefed about this subject. Tourists can learn how they should treat the turtles by means of these activities. In conclusion, thanks to these measures, these ancient creatures can have a long life.

       Hello everybody, I want to introduce you to Selçuk Balcı whose voice I really enjoy while listening. I have chosen him to introduce to you because his voice and songs make me feel moved. When I listen to his songs, I feel like home. 

        Let's talk about him. He was in 1988 in Çayeli,Rize. I mean he is from The Black Sea Region of Turkey. I want to gloss some information in connection with this subject. The music of The Black Sea Region of Turkey and the kemancha are an inseperable whole. In other words, they are two sides of the same coin. Selçuk Balcı really likes not only the music of The Black Sea Region of Turkey but also the kemancha. He learned the kemancha in his high school years. He has not written off the kemancha since then. 

    

      As you guess, he composes of his songs in company wtih the kemancha. He always represents unique localness of The Black Sea Region of Turkey at his performance and personality in a successful way. He has his typical style of playing the kemancha. He can appeal to more and more crowded audience thanks to his ability. 

       Also, he has an album called "Patika". It was released in July 2011. I think it is pretty good.

Hello, I'm Çağla Akın. I'm 28. I'm from Artvin. I got my high school education in Artvin Anatolia Teacher Training High School. I graduated from Department of Foreign Language Education in Middle East Techinal University. I had unforgettable days. My first year in METU was excellent because I was at Prep School. It was like a holiday. I had all opportunities in METU. To illustrate, I went to England through Erasmus Programme for six months. I attended a lot of different social clubs. Thanks to METU, I have so many foreign friends. I learned French and Spanish in METU. I love France. And now, I am at France. I'm thinking of living in France for a while. I'm interested in translation. Also, I'm writing a novel. I like writing. I'm pleased with my life because I'm doing things which I really like. I really enjoy while I'm exploring the beautiful and interesting place in France. I try to make new friends. I want to have kind-hearted and trustworthy friends.
